Your account and hive
Two surfaces stay separate on purpose. Using the wrong one is the usual “where is that setting?” problem.
| Place | URL | Who | What lives there |
|---|---|---|---|
| Account | /account | You | Name, avatar, password, timezone, appearance, notifications, sound, language, native language, agent connection |
| Organization settings | /settings | Managers | Hive name, statuses, rates, AI settings, billing, plugins, support inbox, who may add restricted org knowledge |
| Org knowledge | /org-knowledge | Everyone | Shared procedures and information. Each entry is general or restricted. |
Open Account from the avatar in the top bar → Profile settings. Organization settings follows if you are a manager or admin. {hive name} knowledge is after that.
Section titled “Sign in”On the login screen:
- Email and password, or Continue with Google (Apple when the hive has it enabled).
- Keep me signed in uses a longer session. Without it, the session expires with the shorter token. Either way, a link from Slack or email in a new tab stays signed in.
Forgot the password? Use the link on the login page. The reset email is one-time. If you signed up with Google only, there may be no password to reset — sign in with Google again.
Profile
Section titled “Profile”Name and avatar
Section titled “Name and avatar”Shown on tasks, chat, comments, and People. Upload a photo from Account. It is served through the app (a bare image URL in another tab will not work).
Timezone
Section titled “Timezone”This only changes how dates render for you. Digests, due-soon mail, and standup still use the hive timezone, which a manager sets under Organization settings. If those emails arrive at the “wrong” hour, it is the hive timezone, not your profile.
Appearance
Section titled “Appearance”Theme pack (Hive, Hive SK, Slate, Studio) and light / dark / auto. This is the product, not this help site. Help stays light.
Chat display (Profile, collapsed by default) chooses whether people show an avatar, first name, and/or last name next to messages in chat and on task comments. The preview updates as you toggle.
Notifications
Section titled “Notifications”Account → Notifications. The bell always receives the in-app types. The table has two columns: Browser (system banner on this device when you are not in this tab — calls, DMs, and @mentions) and Email (synced to your account).
Device-local mute, UI feedback, and notification cues. Stored in this browser, not on the hive. A new laptop starts unmuted. Incoming-call banners are under Notifications, not here.
Language
Section titled “Language”Language is menus and labels. English is complete. French and Romanian overlay what has been translated; missing keys fall back to English.
Native language is optional. When everyone on a call shares it, live transcripts use that language. Mixed rooms, or a guest on the call, use the hive language from Organization settings. New tasks and decisions from the meeting are still written in the hive language; the quoted evidence stays in whatever was spoken.
Agents
Section titled “Agents”Account → Agents is where you connect Cursor or Claude with a personal token. A manager only installs the plugin for the hive, and configures the hive’s AI settings. There is no shared hive secret. See Agents.
Joining vs creating
Section titled “Joining vs creating”- Create your hive always starts a new organization. You are the admin.
- Accept an invitation is the only way onto an existing hive. The invite is bound to one email address. Google sign-in on the invite page must use that same address.
- You belong to one hive at a time.
If you created a hive by mistake while trying to join a studio, you now have an extra empty organization. Use the invite link on a different account, or ask an admin to invite the address you actually use.
| Role | Typical job |
|---|---|
| Admin | Full hive control, including billing |
| Manager | Clients, projects, people, settings, invoices (unless invoicing access was narrowed) |
| Member | Work on projects they belong to |
In the product, “manager” often means admin or manager. Members do not see hourly rates, project budgets, or API keys.
Admins and managers can open every project. Members must be added as project members first — being in the hive is not enough.
Presence
Section titled “Presence”People who are in the hive right now show as online on People and in chat. That is a signal, not a timesheet. It does not log hours.
